Thurs. Dec. 17
We were all with mom from 5:00am this morning, wondering if she was going to leave us - but she is still here!
Bob read 2 chapters of Traveling Light by Max Lucado. Great chapters from Psalm 23, The Lord is My Shepherd.
Back to bed for lots of people.
Mom had a really wakeful morning. Hannah came up around 6:30am. Mom said, "Hannah"! Gave her a big, strong hug. So awesome. I told her "I love you" and she said "I love you". She is rallying like crazy. I told Mom that she could rest & rally again when her playgroup friends game. Mom gave Andrea a huge smile this morning - so great to see. Mom was giving kisses to everyone this morning.
When Mary K showed up she was totally surprised & excited! She is talking. Mom told Mary K that she was peaking for them. So sweet. She called all her friends "bad girls". Quite funny, not sure why she called them that. Mary Luard & Sandy Milne aren't bad at all!
Mom's mouth looks so awful. She doesn't like the taste of the spray, but sometimes she lets me spray. It's so pasty & thick. A wonderful nurse came this morning & helped us move Mom & get her more comfortable. That was a big relief to Gramma, the nurse, who was so aware of Mom's need to adjust the sheets & her position.
She is quiet again, but peaceful with her friends.
Paul is planning to come today.
More later.

Hey Mag,
ReplyDeleteQuick note to let you know that I'm thinking/praying for you and the family. I hadn't realized that the cancer advanced during the fall. You're so blessed to have your mom. I will remember her as a strong, smart, generous woman. She dropped off groceries at our new home in Kitchener when we first arrived! I now do that for friends when they return from a long vacation! In the brief time I've known her, she made an impact!
Hugs from us here in California,
Christine
