On Saturday, the 5 kids + Matt & Lauren & Ava, met for lunch, then started looking through the vast cupboards where Mom kept EVERYTHING!! TEETH!!! Yuck. But neat stuff too. It was good to be together & remember funny things that happened, sad things too. SO many cards. I think they were proof to Mom that she was good & deserving of love. It seems she struggled with really believing this, truly acknowledging the beautiful person she was.
It was neat to read the cards. They all said, over & over, "Mom, you're the best, I love you" and variations on that theme, from all of us - and everyone else too. We went through a lot of stuff, but the house looks the same. Her clothes & pictures are still there. I think it would be too stark & drastic to completely empty the house of Mom. As long as her stuff is there, seems like she still is too.
