Update from Afar

Could be that Andrea is in the process of updating, but since I have the password, I'll jump the gun. How unlike me :)

Mom's hair is coming out. She brushes it outside so as not to get hair all over the house. She plans to get a wig this week! She is excited! The woman who demonstrated the wigs gave mom a lot of hope. She is about Mom's age, or older, with graying hair. She put on a wig & looked 10yrs younger! Add to that the free make-up Mom got at the Look Good Feel Better Session & the 10lbs she's lost, she is looking great & feeling better too. A well named session.

Wed. April 22 was Day 1 of Round 2. Went well, although a long wait in the chemo room - over 4hrs?? Lots of other patients to attend to I guess. Thursday was good, after getting the IV line replaced. The Thursday chemo drug gave Mom a bit of a high. She went home & cleaned out closets for a while. This is good, as Andrea moved out of her apartment (this weekend I think) & into Mom & Bob's & Mike moved out of his apartment & back in with Mom & Bob!! No empty nest in that house. Add a few overnights from me - maybe Brenda will accommodate our overflow!

A busy weekend for Mom & Bob visiting all over the place. Sunday was mass & lunch in Walkerton with Sandra, then dinner with Heidi in Waterloo. Saturday was a lunch with Shirley (I think) & dinner out too. Nice to get out of cooking for every meal!! And great to get out & see people while Mom is feeling energetic. The new laxative RX has lightened her load too :) Chemo details we all want to know.

Mom's cough is more controlled after quadrupling her medication. Lots of different drugs to keep track of. Rather different schedules for each drug, so it is a challenge.

Mom's idea for our May long weekend family gathering is to go zip-cording at Chicopee ski hill. Canoeing has been an activity in the past, but maybe this year we'll be trying something new!!

I will make sure that Andrea gets a picture of Mom's new 'do & post it!!
