Round 2 Complete!

Post by Andrea

This morning Mom had to get blood work at 8am! So we had to be out of the house pretty early. Too early to get in a morning prayer at church, but at least Mom remembered her prayer shawl which was given to her by Father Con.

Unfortunately, Mom has a theory that it was the steroids that made her feel so energetic and now she is feeling the real effects of the chemo, as she only got steroids on days 1, 2, and 3. She now feels quite tired, but only in her head. She says her body still feels relatively normal.

Chemo was about 2 hours long today, and as enthralling as Harry Potter is, Mom asked me to stop reading after a while so she could try to rest. Last week I read "The Alchemist" to her during chemo and she really enjoyed it. On her own time, Mom read "The Shack" which Brenda lent to us. Mom flew through that one and thought it was very good.

Anyhow, after chemo today, we went to Hope Spring in Waterloo and Mom picked out a new wig! It is actually very close to her own hair colour, and about the same length, but the hair is totally straight and she has bangs. So it is definitely a change, but not too drastic. Although I attempted to get her to try some crazy wigs! She still doesn't need one, though. Her hair still looks normal to me, but she is sure she is losing her hair. So at least she'll have time to get used to her new look before it becomes permanent. She has been wearing it since before dinner!

Aren't you glad I didn't opt for the obvious "Wigging Out!" title for this blog??
